Charitable Bequest

A charitable bequest is one of the easiest and most flexible ways that you can leave a gift that will have a lasting impact. A bequest is a transfer of cash, securities, or other property through a will or a living trust. A bequest to TCLC can be made for a specific amount, for a percentage of your estate, or even for all or a portion of what is left after you have made specific bequests to your family and others.

There are many benefits from making a bequest, some of which depend on the size and composition of your estate. A bequest enables you to continue into perpetuity the contributions you made during your lifetime to the Center, or it could establish a permanent endowment creating a lasting legacy. Giving via bequest costs nothing now, yet it may give you a great deal of satisfaction to know that your future gift will live on. Bequests can also be designated for specific purposes such as establishing a fund to provide childcare for abortion-minded mothers who have chosen life.

To make a gift of this kind to TCLC from your estate, you must add a codicil (modification) to your present will, sign a new will or living trust instrument, or make an amendment to your present trust instrument. To ensure that your exact intentions will be properly realized, we encourage you to contact your estate planning attorney to discuss your plans and get help in drafting the language that will accomplish your charitable goals.

Beneficiary Designation Gifts

A beneficiary designation gift is another simple and affordable way to leave a gift to a charity. You can simply designate TCLC as the beneficiary of a bank, retirement or investment account or your life insurance policy. This can be accomplished by contacting the broker, banker or agent who helps you with your account and requesting a new beneficiary designation form. When you pass away, your account or insurance policy will be paid or transferred to TCLC consistent with the revised beneficiary designation.

Beneficiary designation gifts are among the most flexible of charitable gifts because they do not impact how you use your account while you are alive, and you can change your beneficiary designation at any future time for any reason. They simplify your planned giving, avoid expensive legal fees and may also reduce the burden of taxes on your family.
